The Centre for Documentation and Data Bank was established to facilitate research in NISWASS. Researchers, less-acquainted with new or available sources of information, spend significant amount of time on searching and retrieving. To avoid or reduce the loss of information and search time, NISWASS has taken an initiative for maintaining a Data Bank. The main purpose of the Data Bank is to organise information in a way that it can easily be accessed, managed, and updated.

The Functions of the Centre

  • Regularly collect and record secondary data in soft copies.

  • Collect primary field survey data of completed projects both in soft copies and hard copies from the students, faculty and research centre of NISWASS.

  • Offer information regarding availability of statistical data and their sources.

  • Share available data and information with the faculty, students and the research centre.

Current Status

Progress is being made in gathering data on socio-economic and political variables at State and all India level. These include collection, compilation and updating of secondary data and soft copies of the reports available at websites of govt. departments as well as organizations having significance for academic research. The reports mainly include manuals, Census data, NSSO reports, reports of task forces/committees /working group/sub-groups set up by various governments and statistical data reports (Economic surveys- centre/states, Abstracts of Statistics etc.) Apart from these, efforts are also being made to list the entire Masters theses (Dissertations) and Research projects of NISWASS.
